The Ronnie Davis Combo is throwing a party to celebrate the release of their debut CD, "Soul Jazz Midnite," on Saturday, November 3rd at:
Sportsmen's Tavern
326 Amherst Street, Buffalo NY
3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
The bash is a special presentation of their series of weekly "Soul Jazz Matinees" hosted by the combo which features Ronnie Davis on organ and key bass, Doug Morgano on guitar and Robbie Lunch on drums.
The "Soul Jazz Midnite" CD is a collection of Davis' original tunes that evoke the classic organ trio funk-jazz of the 60's and features Davis and Morgano along with drummer Ray Hangen and guest musicians. It was recorded at Dwane Hall's Sessions Studio located next door to the Sportsmen's Tavern.
"This recording is our take on the vintage soul jazz organ sound with some new twists and surprises." says Ronnie Davis. "This tradition is an influential part of Buffalo's musical roots when jazz clubs were everywhere and funky instrumental hits were all over the radio."
The party will feature performances by the combo along with vocalist sue Kincaid, and other musical guests and friends. Admission is free and there will be complimentary food and copies of "Soul Jazz Midnite" for a special price of $10.00.
