Hi,
my name is Ron Davis
aka LeeRon Zydeco, and I am
a professional keyboardist, accordionist, vocalist,
composer and music educator.
I
lead a popular Zydeco-Cajun roots band called LeeRon
Zydeco & the Hot Tamales, in which I play accordion
and sing, accompanied by some of the best musicians
in the Western New York
State area. We play a spicy, upbeat mix of Zydeco,
Cajun, Caribbean, Blues, Tex-Mex and New Orleans
party funk for casual and elegant events of every
kind.
On the keyboard side, my latest project is Acid Funk Duo which features Ray Hangen on drums and yours truly on organ, keybass, synth and vocals. We play trippy funk originals and edgy versions of cover tunes by the Stones, Band and Animals. You can hear and see more at MySpace and YouTube and in the Multimedia section of this site.
I also lead a group called The
Ronnie Davis Combo that plays funky organ soul-jazz-and blues from classic
Jimmy Smith-Groove Holmes-Ray Charles to contemporary
groove originals.
In
addition, I do a solo
boogie piano act playing
barrelhouse honky tonk and New Orleans blues ala
Professor Longhair and Doctor John, along with
funked-up
Beatles and Stones, American standards, and
swing jazz including Duke Ellington classics.
I also offer the LeeRon Zydeco New Orleans Music Show (link), an edu-tainment program that provides an up-close opportunity to experience the spicy sounds and rhythms of the New Orleans region. This I present in schools, colleges, libraries and cultural centers. I also use roots music and rhythm as a therapeutic tool in programs for disabled and autistic kids and adults.
In addition, I work with student band directors in a workshop that teaches young musicians the style, feel and improvisational approach to New Orleans funk and blues.
